Terms of Service
The agreement between your church and us. Written to be read, not to be survived.
1This agreement
ChurchSurface is provided by GetWoven LLC. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean GetWoven LLC, and "you" means the church or organization using the service and the people acting on its behalf.
Using the service, including asking for a free visibility check, means you accept these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a church, you are confirming that you are entitled to do so.
2What the service is
ChurchSurface finds what AI assistants say about your church, corrects what is wrong, publishes your public information in a form those systems can read, keeps that record current, and reports to you on what the assistants say when asked.
In practice that means: you confirm a record of what is true about your church, we read your website, we ask AI assistants a fixed set of questions about you every month and keep exactly what they say, and we give you a report on it together with what to change. While you are subscribed we also publish a page about your church on churchsurface.com, written in the form those systems read most reliably, and keep it current from your record.
Most churches sign up on this website and pay the price shown there. Section 7 sets out what that costs and how it renews. We sometimes agree something different in writing with a church, and where we have, that agreement governs instead.
3What we cannot promise
We do not control the assistants and we cannot guarantee results. ChatGPT, Gemini, Siri and the rest decide for themselves what to say. They change how they work without warning, they draw on sources we have no authority over, and they sometimes get things wrong for reasons nobody outside those companies can see.
What we can do is make your information accurate, complete and available in the formats those systems read, which is the part that is within anyone's power. We do that carefully and we show you the results honestly, including the months where you did not appear.
The reports themselves are produced with the help of AI systems run by other companies, both to ask the questions and to read the answers. They are not perfect either. We check every claim a report makes against the words the assistant actually used before we print it, and we throw away the ones that do not hold up, but if you ever read something in a report that does not match the answer printed beneath it, tell us, because we would want to know.
We also cannot tell you how many people asked an assistant about your church. That figure is not published by anyone, and we will never invent it. Our reports describe what assistants say when we ask them a fixed set of questions, and how that changes over time. Anybody offering you AI query volumes for your church is guessing.
4What we need from you
The service depends on the information you confirm being true. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you tell us: service times, address, contact details, ministries, events, and how you describe your church.
You also need to tell us when things change. We check monthly and will catch a good deal of drift on our own, but we cannot know that you moved a service to a different hour unless somebody tells us or your church management system does.
5Authority to speak for the church
When you confirm a record you are telling us you are entitled to speak for that church. That is not a formality. It is the thing that makes the record worth trusting, and it is what we rely on when we publish your information or tell an assistant it has your church wrong.
We should be straight about what we check and what we do not. Signing up requires control of an email address and a website address, and we will look at whether the two go together, but we are not able to verify anybody's role at a church on our own. If you confirm a record for a church you do not speak for, you are in breach of these terms and we will remove it.
If you think somebody has claimed your church, write to us and we will sort it out. If your own role changes, tell us, so that we can move the claim to whoever holds it next.
6The free visibility check
Any church may open an account and run one report at no charge, whether or not it ever becomes a customer. It costs nothing, it needs no card, it does not commit you to anything, and we will not put you on a mailing list for having asked.
Two limits apply to it, so that the free report stays free for everybody. It is one report, not a standing arrangement. And it covers up to two of your campuses, which is enough to show a church of any size what the thing does.
A report is a snapshot of what assistants said on the day we asked. It is not a diagnosis, an audit, or a guarantee of anything that follows.
7What it costs and how it renews
The price is shown on the billing page in your account before you agree to anything, and it is worked out from the number of campuses in your record. Adding a campus changes what you pay from your next invoice onwards.
It is a subscription and it renews on its own. You can pay monthly or yearly. Setting up payment charges the first month, or the first year if you choose to pay yearly, immediately, and the same amount is charged every month or every year after that, on the same day, until you cancel it. Fees are payable in advance. Taxes, where they apply, are yours.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from the billing page in your account, and nothing is taken again. You keep the service until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund the part-used period unless we have agreed otherwise, and we will not make you telephone anybody or explain yourself to cancel.
What a subscription includes. One report a month, which runs on its own, and two more in the same month that you can run yourself whenever you want to check whether something you changed has worked. Those limits are there because every report costs us real money to produce. If you need more, ask us.
Other services. We sometimes offer a one-time service to carry out the changes a report recommends, at a price shown before you pay. It is a single payment for a piece of work and it never becomes a subscription. What we are promising there is the work and our best effort at it, not a particular result from any assistant, for the reasons in section 3. If we cannot make the agreed changes at all, we refund you.
If we change a price, we will tell you before it takes effect and you may decline by cancelling under section 13.
8Your account
There is no password. Signing in uses a short code sent to the email address on the account, so whoever can read that inbox can reach your record and your reports. Keep it to people who should have it, and tell us when somebody leaves.
You are responsible for what is done from your account. If you think somebody has reached it who should not have, write to us and we will lock it while we work out what happened.
9Acceptable use
Do not use the service to publish information you know to be false, to represent a church you do not speak for, to impersonate another organization, or to break the law. Do not attempt to interfere with the service or with other churches' records.
We do not sell placement. No church can pay to rank above another, and no amount of money will make us publish something we have reason to believe is untrue.
10Ownership
Your information stays yours. You grant us permission to publish and distribute it for the purpose of the service, which is the whole point of engaging us, and that permission ends when the arrangement ends.
The software, the site, the reports we produce and the ChurchSurface name stay ours. You may share a report we send you with anyone at your church, or with your board, freely.
11Warranties
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Some states do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, in which case those exclusions do not apply to you.
12Liability
To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost revenue, lost donations, lost attendance, or loss of goodwill, however caused.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. If you have paid us nothing, our liability is limited to one hundred dollars.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
13Ending the arrangement
You may stop at any time, from the billing page in your account or by telling us. We will stop maintaining your record and take down the page we published about you. Your reports stay available to you while your account is open, and we will delete everything on request. Anything you have already paid for the current period is not refunded unless we agree otherwise, and we will not bill you again.
We may end the arrangement if you breach these terms and do not put it right within a reasonable time after we ask, or immediately if the breach is serious. If we end it for any other reason, we will refund the unused part of what you have paid.
14Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will update the effective date above, and for a material change affecting an existing customer we will tell you directly before it applies to you.
15Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and the courts of Pennsylvania have jurisdiction over any dispute.
